Film Festival Mission

The mission of the Key West Film Festival is to showcase films that capture Key West’s essence: Creativity, Diversity, Sustainability, and Beauty, exhibit excellence in storytelling while Festival attendees get to enjoy and experience the island vibe and Charm of Key West!

Key West enjoys a rich tradition of inspiring residents and visitors alike to approach everything they do with a free and unbridled spirit. All things creative as the highest expression of the human soul are celebrated during this event the best of Florida filmmakers are showcased but also include visiting filmmakers in some incredible workshops with access to some of the largest names in the industry. Invited filmmakers in the past have taken free workshops in Commercial Directing, Music Video Directing, Screenwriting with Oscar Nominated Writer, Film Critics Panels with Eric Kohn from Indiewire, Crowd-Funding with the director at Indiegogo, Film Distribution with Magnolia Pictures and much more!

Showcasing films that exhibit excellence in storytelling, the festival’s lineup is to feature screenings and special events hosted at landmark venues throughout Key West, including the San Carlos Institute, Key West Theater and Tropic Cinema. The four-day program is to include several films from multiple genres and categories as well as social events with filmmakers, actors and film lovers.

Past guests have included: Marisa Tomei, Alan Cumming, Sebastian Junger, John Waters, Paul Haggis, Terry George, Steven Bauer, Burt Reynolds, Anson Mount, Celia Weston, Mariel Hemingway, Angus MacLachlan, Judy Blume, Bob Wisdom, Val Lauren, Anne O’Shea and many more!

By combining the best of the world of film with the best location in the tropics, this is an event that you won’t want to miss. Whether you join as a showcasing filmmaker, an audience member, a volunteer, or a partner, there’s a special place for you at KWFF and we look forward to seeing you here!

The goal is trying to not only showcase films but help filmmakers in creating their next work. Last year the festival gave out $10,000 in scholarships to Florida filmmakers with director Brett Ratner!!

Membership and Pricing

Different membership prices and benefits are available depending on what fits your needs, starting at $25 for a Student Membership - $1,200 for Mogul Membership which also gives you ability to intro a film.

Parking Tips & How to Get There

Since the events are located in areas with very limited parking we do recommend the most popular way of transportation in Key West which by bike. We now have also Uber and Taxis are always available as well. If you still decide to drive there are spots with metered parking close by.

This is a very popular event not only for locals but for many visitors who plan a trip to Key West for the festival. Tickets are normally available about a month or so prior so we do recommend planning accordingly.
