"Coffee" Butler's Legacy
Lofton “Coffee” Butler was born in Key West in 1928 and has been a staple of the community ever since. Throughout his life, he pursued his passion for music, taking inspiration from his favorite musicians, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra. During his time serving in the US Army during the Korean War, Coffee was known to perform for the troops. He remained grounded in Key West throughout his life while encountering famous musicians he played with, including the Beatles. He has played at a number of notable Key West venues including the Little Room Jazz Club, The Brown Derby (now named the Green Parrot), and even performed in renowned NYC venues including the Apollo Theater. The amphitheater's dedication to Coffee Butler is in recognition of his musical talents, integrity, ideals, and impact on the Key West community.
The Key West Live Music Venue
The new venue is located at the Truman Waterfront Park offering panoramic views and a prime destination for sunset viewing. Music enthusiasts can choose between a grassy general admission area and reserved seats for an intimate live music experience. Visitors can bring lawn chairs and blankets to create their own private oasis and really get comfortable during their live music experience.
