Just around the corner from the Southernmost Point, the Butterfly Museum is a magical world to spend a few hours. See a variety of 50 different butterfly species from around the world along with 20 exotic birds, two flamingoes, a collection of flowering plants amidst cascading waterfalls and trees. There is also a learning center and a live butterfly cocoon viewing window. Browse the gift shop before you leave and find that perfect souvenir to remember this one of a kind experience.

At the Key West Shipwreck Museum, you will step back into time to 1856 and discover Key West’s unique maritime heritage and how it became the richest city in the United States. Listen to the tales of dangerous shipwrecks and discover the booty that was recovered. At the end of the tour, climb the 65′ lookout tower that overlooks downtown Key West. Tickets required.

For an up-close and hands-on experience with some amazing sea creatures, the Key West Aquarium does not disappoint. Interactive activities include a touch tank with conchs, starfish, hermit crabs and sea urchins. You can also touch a Cow Nose Ray over in Stingray Bay. Other exciting exhibits include alligators, nurse sharks, sea turtles and jelly fish. Fun for all ages.

TRUMAN WATERFRONT PARK

Truman Waterfront Park in Key West

The City of Key West officially opened the crown jewel of the local community parks in April 2018. The Truman waterfront park playground which includes a water feature and slide, covered play areas, rope climbing, and huge green space for just running around or picnicking. Located in the Truman Annex and close to Ft. Zachary State Park, this playground also has great views of the ocean and passing boats.
