Key West Songwriters’ Festival

Yesterday marked the kickoff for the 2010 Better Angels Key West Songwriters’ Festival. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Festival, which benefits the Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation. There will be 5 days, 5 nights, 160 songwriters, 43 shows and 21 different stages. At Home in Key West is proud to be a sponsor as well as a Lodging Partner this year. Bacardi and Budweiser are also sponsors of the events, and are offering drink specials at a large number of venues. Seven Mile Bridge Run

The Seven Mile Bridge Run is happening next Saturday April 25th, from 7am to 9am. The run gives participants to cross the entire historic bridge uninterrupted, as the bridge will be closed to traffic during the event.

The event is limited to 1500 participants, with tradional categories such as men’s, women’s, children’s, age 75 and older as well as wheelchair. Prices will be awarded to the top finishers.

SEVEN MILE BRIDGE RUN

Just a reminder all the traffic to and from the mainland will be interrupted, and there is no alternative route so please plan schedules accordingly.

14th Annual Taste of Key West

Come experience the Taste of Key West, on April 20th from 6pm to 9pm, on the Truman Waterfront! There will be over 50 local restaurants at the event serving their delicious cuisine, along with wines featured by National Distributing.

Admission is free, food and wine tickets are $1 each, and the Commemorative Wine Glasses are $6 each.

The Great Conch Repulic Stargazer Cruise

Experience the rare appearance of the conch Republic’s Northern Cross and Southern Cross together in the night sky for a great Key West activity, on Sunday, April 26th from 9:00pm -11:30.

You will travel aboard the Liberty Clipper with Joe Universe to watch this rare occurrence.

Reservations are required.  Proceeds will benefit the Conch Republic Foster’s Children Fund.

World’s Longest Parade in Key West

Come down to Duval St, on April 23rd at 7:00pm to enjoy or participate in the World’s Largest Parade on your Key West vacation.

The parade goes from the Atlantic side of Duval St and ends in the Gulf of Mexico side of Duval street at the Schooner Wharf Bar.

This is the 18th annual World’s Longest Parade, where anyone can participate in this fun event.

USS Vandenberg preparing to be towed to Key West

As of March 14,2009 the USS Hoyt Vandenberg is in the final phases of preparation before it is sunk; where it then become the world’s second largest artificial reef. Visitors and locals alike  will be able to view the ship before her new mission as an artificial reef.

18th Annual Conch Cruiser Car Show

Come see The 18th Annual Conch Cruiser Car Show on Sunday, April 19th at noon on Schooner Wharf.  Find things to do in Key West all year round!  You can enter your own car for free and all vehicles are welcome or you can just come and enjoy the creations and help judge the People’s Choice Award winner. The Great Conch Republic Drag Race

Come see the Great Conch Republic Drag Race on Saturday April 18th for a great Key West thing to do! This Key West Florida attraction is hosted by the Bourbon Street Complex in the 700 Block of Duval Street, Key West.

1–2 Pits open for public viewing
2–3 Time Trials
3–5 Drag Racing – Quarters, Semis, and Finals
5–11 Tea Dancing in Street

Vandenberg Coming to Key West

The 525 foot General Hoyt S. Vandenberg will be coming to Key West in April becoming the world’s second largest artificial reef, now a Key West Florida attraction with the world’s largest in Pensacola, Fl. City Commissioner Bill Verge hopes the vessel will arrive in mid-April. The Vandenberg will be docked at Easy Quay Wall at the Truman Waterfront for approximately four weeks and will then be sunk about eight miles from Key West, at the Western Sambos reef.
