Upon arrival, the house was a little difficult to find. We didn't realize it was a house that sat behind another one. We were under the impression that the pool and hot tub were for private use (my wife and I), but we quickly realized the pool sat between the two houses in the back yard, and could also be used by the tenant in the other house. The condition of the house was good, however the appliances were somewhat old. The location was nice, only a block and a half from Duvall street and a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. Having a grocery store right across the street was great. The only problem I had with the location was you could smell the food from the chinese restaurant next door. (If you like Chinese, I guess this could be considered a good thing!) As far as cleanliness goes, the interior of the house was great, but the exterior around the pool and hot tub looked like it was in desperate need of a good sweeping, for leaves. We stayed in this house for our honeymoon, and it was our first trip ever to Key West. If we were to do it over again, we would have chosen something a little more quiet and secluded. I strongly advise future visitors not to drive a car, as it was very difficult to find free parking (as was mentioned by at Home in Key West). If we do make a second trip down there, we will probably pursue other housing options, with at Home in Key West. The assistance we received from the ahikw staff was wonderful!
Thank you for taking the time to review our home. We can understand that you didn't realize this cottage is siutated behind a needlepoint store and will be revising our description of the home on our website to add that information. The driving directions you received when retrieving keys gives detailed instructions on where the cottage is located, and we hope that helped. The pool and jacuzzi are available for your use only when you stay in this cottage. Upon investigating your dismay over others using them, we were informed that the pool was being cleaned when you arrived; other than that, no one would have use of the pool or jacuzzi during your stay. We appreciate your kind words about At Home In Key West; we strive to exceed our guests' expectations and look forward to your next stay with us!

It was the perfect place to honeymoon. Just 1 block from Duval St but quiet and private once you entered the property. The ladder looks scary in the photos but we're over 50 and it was easy to use. Dick and Julie (owners) were sweet, helpful and non intrusive. We give this 10 out of 10 stars

Very private, clean and great location. Market across the street is so convenient! Pool area is very nice and perfect hang out in the heat of mid-day.

Our decision to stay at the Island Pearl instead of a "cookie cutter" hotel stemmed from us wanting a bit more "authentic" feel for the community and to not be just another "tourist" passing through. Our "hosts" Dick and Julie and their daughter, as well as their "four legged family" made us feel as if we were neighbors and friends. This gave us a sense of blending in with the wonderful webwork of diversity that makes up the Key West community. Dick, Julie and family live to the front of the property and run a family business from the bottom part of their home. Beautiful needleworking supplies sold there! The conch cottage was perfect for that "getaway",secluded, private experience and offered all the warmth and ammenities of home.It was stocked with everything you need, except a trip to the gracery store, (wonderful grocery/deli right across the street)! Convenient, comfortable, quiet and relaxing in your own private oasis, this was the perfect way to stay in Key West!
