June 18th, 2009Come join the celebration of Ernest Hemingway’s life July 21-July 26. Don’t miss out on all the great events that are lined up for this Key West tradition, here are just a few things that are happening.
Come explore his Key West home with guided tours happening daily.
On July 22nd from 5:30pm -7:30pm, at the Doubletree Grand Key Resort, come meet and get to know the current contestants and past winners of the “Papa” Hemingway Look a like contest. And enjoy food and fun which includes a cash bar and much more.
On July 23rd at 6:30pm, at the Famous Sloppy Joes, come see the 29th Annual “Papa” Hemingway look alike contest, first round. And on Saturday July 25th the final round of the “Papa” Hemingway look alike contest will be taking place at Sloppy Joes at 6:30pm. Don’t miss it!

June 11th, 2009If you love lobster, be sure you make it to this Key West Florida attraction, August 7th-9th, for the Key West Lobsterfest 2009! The event will be held in the 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 blocks of Duval. And this year in addition to the scrumptious lobster, which is all locally caught, all participating venues will also be serving Key West Pink Shrimp!
There will be cold drinks, live music, and lobster and shrimp galore!

May 28th, 2009If you are looking for some fun entertainment, look no further than the Battle of the Bars, on August 2nd, at 12:30pm. Restaurant and Bar Staff will compete in a series of events, including mixing a margarita and running through an obstacle course with it, tapping a keg of beer, pouring it, serving it and drinking it, and much more! All proceeds from the Battle of the Bars will be donated to the Boys and Girls club.
Trophies along with bragging rights will be awarded.

The U.S.S Vandenberg was sunk on May 27,2009 at about 10:20am settling to her final resting place in about 1 minute 44 seconds. The Vandenberg will now become the world’s second largest artificial reef, seven miles off the coast of Key West.

Come to the Schooner Wharf Bar on Sunday, May 24th, and watch as people race across the harbor in their homemade boats. Which can only be made out of plywood, 2×4, fasteners and duct tape! There are two categories in this regatta, Kayak/Canoe Design and Open Design. With prizes awarded to the fastest, most creative, best paint job, the sinker, and many others.
This event will be fun for everyone, including spectators!
There will be Captain Morgan and Corona drink specials with live music from noon to 6pm.

May 18th, 2009The date has been set for the sinking of the U.S.S Vandenberg to become an artificial reef on May 27th. If all goes well and weather and other circumstances permit tug boats will guide the ship from it’s current location at the Truman Waterfront to the sink site, where it will be anchored overnight.
Boats will need to stay a mile away while the ship is being sunk. And once the ship is on the bottom, clearance divers will ensure that all charges were detonated.

May 13th, 2009Come experience this year’s Fantasy Fest going on from October 23- November 1st. This year’s theme is Villains, Vixens and Vampires. There is never a dull moment in this Key West Florida attraction known as Fantasy Fest with costume parties, celebrity look alike contests, pirate bashes, duval street promenade and so much more!
There is even a children’s day which will have arts and crafts, food, games and a costume contest for kids!

May 4th, 2009If you are looking for Key West things to do, come down to Mallory Square and experience the Sunset Celebration which happens every evening, about two hours before sunset, until well into the night.
There are many different attractions during the celebration which include, arts and craft exhibitors, street performers, psychics, and food carts just to name a few.
It’s a beautiful thing, watching the sun sink into the Gulf of Mexico, come to Mallory Square and experience it for yourself.
