It’s hard to be bored when in Key West.  Key West attractions range from museums and national/state parks to the famed “Southernmost Point” and the nightly held “Sunset Celebration” just to name a few.  There is something for everyone to explore and enjoy in Key West!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT EVENTS– FANTASY FEST 2011

And the party continues!!! There will be non-stop happenings tonight all over the
island. Here are some of the events you don’t want to miss!!

The Pet Masquerade & Parade is a magical carousel of frisky pets and playful owners delightfully disguised. This Free to watch show starts at 5:30pm at the Casa Marina.

The Lazy Gecko’s Redneck Party will feature contest for best redneck, best redneck babe, and more. So get all gussied up and step out to the biggest Redneck party on Duval. Party starts at 7pm at the Lazy Gecko located at 200 Duval.

Don’t miss the often imitated but never duplicated 10th Annual Red Party at Fogarty’s!  There will be costume contest, door prizes, and a live band. For information on cover charge please call 294-7525.

Peace, Love, and Aquatic Afrolic Woodstock style at the Schooner Wharf Bar. Schooner Wharf Bar is being transformed into “Wharfstock” reliving the Summer of Love. So get groovy with tie-dye and flower power at this must attend event. Party starts at 10pm.

TUESDAY NIGHT EVENTS- FANTASY FEST 2011

FANTASY FEST 2011 is in Full Swing!! Come Frolic the night away at one or all of the events tonight!!

Capt. Tony’s Party in Plaid- Live music, rum specials, and Party Party Party at 428 Greene St.

Finnegan’s Wake Green Party- Celebrate all things green at this authentic Irish pub. There will be live music, a costume contest, and an eating contest. Entry is free as long as you wear GREEN

1st Annual Cowboys and Indians Party- The Wild Wild West has hit Key West! Come join in on the Wild West themed party featuring a costume contest and mechanical bull riding contest. Party starts at 10pm at 610 Duval St.

TONIGHT Oct 21– Coronation of the King & Queen of Fantasy Fest 2011

FANTASY FEST 2011 HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED!! And the Kickoff party will be held tonight at the Southernmost Beach Café. The 2011 Royal Coronation Ball is THE party of the year and one of AIDS Helps most important fundraising events. Come  support and vote for your favorite Fantasy Fest King and Queen candidate. For many weeks the candidates worked very hard to raise money for AIDS Help and tonight the hard work will pay off. The fun starts at 6pm and voting starts at 8:30pm. For more please visit AIDS Help

October 21-22– 31st Annual Goombay Fest

Goombay 2011 kicks off Friday Oct, 21 and continues thru to Saturday. This street party is located in the heart of Bahama Village. There will be music, food, and  vendors with a variety of wares. Come enjoy the street-fair cuisine while you dance to the music in the middle of the street. There will be different bands performing including Robert Albury Band and Junkanoo. At Home In Key West – 1st Annual Fantasy Fest Photo Contest

Fantasy Fest is one of the most unique festivals in America and this year you can win CASH by sending us your pictures taken during Fantasy Fest 2011Aquatic Afrolic.           There will be 3 categories to enter:

  • Best  Representation of Theme
  • Best Group Photo
  • Best Costume Overall

By entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph displayed on the At Home In Key West website.  Your submission is your agreement that the photo can be used for any marketing, editorial or promotional uses on the At Home In Key West website.

All entries should be 640 x 480 or larger and submitted by email to reservations@athomekeywest.com   no later than November 10, 2011.  To enter a photo, you must be at least 18 years of age, the submission must be an original picture taken by a guest staying with At Home In Key West, Inc.  Photos will be credited to the photographer named in the entry, please include a title for your photograph.  Any entry, which in the sole opinion of At Home In Key West is deemed to be inappropriate for publication will be deemed ineligible.  Yes, that means no nudity.

Winning entry will be announced on November 15th. The winning entry for Best representation of theme will receive $200 Visa gift card; the winning entries for best group picture and best costume overall will each receive a $100 Visa gift card.

Nov 5,2011– ABC 5K Walk/Run

Zonta Club of Key West is an organization of professional women working
together. They provide services globally and locally that improve the
economical, educational, and professional status of women. Zonta will be
hosting its 19th annual ABC 5K Walk/Run. Proceeds from participation,
sponsorship, and donations will allow uninsured and under insured women
the opportunity to take life-saving tests. For more information please

Florida Keys State Parks

Driving thru the Florida Keys can get exhausting. There are a lot of different places to pull off and get a bite to eat or just stretch your legs. State parks are a great place to relax and unwind for a few hours. There are several State Parks thru out the Florida Keys.

Key Largo

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is the first undersea park in the U.S. Many enjoy the view of the reef from a glass-bottom boat tour or snorkeling. For more information please visit John Pennekamp 

Islamorada

San Pedro Underwater Archaeological Preserve State Park features a submerged shipwreck. The underwater site has been enhanced with seven replica cannons, an anchor, and an information plaque. For more information  please visit San Pedro .

Long Key

Long Key State Park is a great place for the family to unwind and explore. Visitors can explore this island by canoeing through a chain of lagoons or hiking two land-based trails. The Golden Orb Trail leads visitors through five natural communities to an observation tower that provides a panoramic view of the island and its profusion of plant and animal life. Marathon

Curry Hammock is made up of a group of islands in the Middle Keys, with public access to
swimming, a playground, picnic tables, grills and showers on the ocean side of

Big Pine

Bahia Honda is home to one of Florida’s southernmost state parks, known for beautiful beaches, magnificent sunsets and excellent snorkeling. Visitors can picnic on the beach
and take a swim or relax and enjoy the balmy sea breezes that caress the shores

Key West

Fort Zachery Taylor is Florida’s southernmost state park. It is popular for recreation, as
well as U.S. military history. Fort Zach provides opportunities for picnicking,
swimming, snorkeling, and fishing. Visitors can also enjoy a short nature trail

Welcome USS Spruance

Anchors Aweigh, my boys, Anchors Aweigh!! The 9200 ton USS Spruance is on its way. Key West will host the commissioning of the nation’s newest warship. The USS Spruance and her 280 proud sailors will sail into Key West today with her flags proudly flying.
