Sunday, June 8th – World Oceans Day

worldoceanday2Celebrate “World Oceans Day” in Key West —– Underwater!!

Every year on June 8th communities around the globe celebrate World Oceans Day as an opportunity to learn more about our oceans and to raise awareness about the crucial role the ocean plays in our lives & the increasingly critical need for each of us to help conserve its wonders and resources.

This year LIVE streaming video of the spectacular Florida Keys underwater world is being broadcast from Sand Key, 8.5miles off Key West, 20 feet below the surface…and Way Down Video Productions and Key West Broadband invite everyone to take ocean conservation personally by sharing a pledge on camera — underwater!

If you are in the area, join them on a dive with your Ocean Promise  —- be unique, be creative, be UNDERWATER! Dive centers around the area will gather at the location and snorkelers & private boats are welcome to meet up for the fun.
Ocean lovers unable to make it to Key West can still join the celebration by tuning in for the virtual underwater show from 10am – 2pm to catch a real-time glimpse of what our marine friends are up to. Remote supporters can send a photo of their Ocean Promise (from a favorite dive spot or land location) and Way Down Video & KW Broadband will post it on all of their social media!

The event concludes Sunday evening with a special screening of the documentary film Atlantis by Luc Besson in the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center’s theater at 7pm in Key West, FL.  Admission is FREE and everyone is invited! Please join FL Keys Ocean in Motion to celebrate the world oceans, pledge your Ocean Promise to help conserve the waters & animals we all love, and spread the word!
