Update: USS Vandenberg is on it’s way to Key West

The USS Vandenberg has begun it’s long awaited journey from Norfolk, Virginia to Key West, Florida. Crews cut the remaining ties on Monday and the ship is expected to arrive in Key West between Thursday and Saturday, depending on weather conditions. Five tug boats were used to get the Vandenberg out of Norfolk Harbor and only one will tow it to Key West.

A team of reef experts will sink the ship five miles off Key West. The ship will be anchored at Easy Quay Wall at Truman Waterfront until it is sunk, which must be before June 1st, the start of hurricane season.
